Katherine Wathen Ms. Rolfes WRD 110 25 September 2021 Casey County Faith Community Casey County, Kentucky. One of the most peaceful faith filled places I have ever known. I know the kind of people who live there, but do I really know all about here? Do I know each and every person’s choice of faith and their stories? No. I wanted to dive deeper into the faith aspect of Casey County since this is the place my faith took off into what it is today. I think learning some of its history related to the different religions and overall daily life could help me know more about this place I love. Learning every single thing would take much longer than the time I have at hand, but I want to start with an online look at what I can find about Casey County. Then since my grandma Nonnie is very knowledgeable about her home town, I’m going to interview her and see what she can teach me. On  http://explorelibertyky.com/genealogy/  , It said how  Casey County was one of the first areas of Kentucky tha

Secondary Sources Katherine Wathen

I mentioned in my last blog post that I would be using this site,  http://explorelibertyky.com/genealogy/  for one of my sources. This would be a secondary source in the sense of the writing, but pictures is what would be considered the primary source information I’ll be drawing from the site. I also will be using the site  https://kb.osu.edu/bitstream/handle/1811/63996/JAPAS_Donnermeyer-Anderson_vol2-issue2_pp215-244.pdf?sequence%3D1  which goes more into depth about the Amish-Mennonites.  Both of these sites will inform me more on these communities in my larger community. I think they will help me get an understanding of the kind of community there is of religion in Casey County and how they work. I think I will be able to learn how Casey County differs from Lexington. I am wanting to answer the question regarding what affect does the lack of technology have in relation to Casey County’s strong devotion and religious community.

Blog Post: Primary Artifacts   On your blog, post two primary sources (photos, interviews, survey etc.) you are considering for your project to   your blog before class on 9/18.  These   sources   should have descriptions and explanations as to how you will collect them and how they might be used to inform/illustrate your community topic.  I am going to interview my grandmother Nonnie, since she knows just about everything about Casey County that there is to know. She grew up there so she would be the perfect primary source to speak to. http://explorelibertyky.com/genealogy/ This source is I guess considered secondary but this site there’s lots of information about Casey County in relation to genealogy. I can find out where Casey County really started or came from. I took these photos, I have more I’m trying to look for but I really think these pictures capture the peacefulness of Casey County and it gives you a comforting feeling when you see the photos. Katherine Wathen Casey County Podcast

https://www.mediafire.com/file/3pdh94cinv6g231/Casey_county_podcast.m4a/file          Casey County Podcast Grassy green hills with cattle, dogs barking and bugs buzzing all around, no city buildings or hustle and bustle for miles. These make up the most comforting place I’ve ever known, and that’s just the beginning. Casey County Kentucky is where my Grandmother, Nonnie grew up. She’s taken her two daughters here their whole lives, my mom and my Aunt Sarah. This led to them taking me, my sister Lizzie, and my cousin Christopher along too. We would drive down on the weekends when we were free and summer was our favorite time to go. This place has gifted me with so many things like my faith, my love and respect for simplicity in nature, and a bond so strong with my grandmother and family that I couldn’t be more thankful for. In Casey County there was rarely any service in the cabin we would stay in, you’d have to drive like 20 minutes for your calls and texts and things to come through.

“We’re All Different In Our Own Ways” I Believe Podcast. https://thisibelieve.org/essay/14338/ In this recording he is referring to his school communities, elementary, middle, and high school. I found the aspect of focusing on his differences and the confidence he has despite the difficulties he faced in school his whole life to be most interesting. He was made fun of for all of his life yet he somehow still stood strong in his differences. He told the story which was us observing what he went through, then he dove deeper into his thoughts. He learned from his story and shared how through it all he respects everyone with differences and thinks being unique is a great thing, and he encourages readers to do the same. He gave specific quotes of things said to him, and made comparisons that were relatable to most. He also made the idea of being different, and accepting those differences, very appealing. Reading it made me respect him and my own unique qualities as well. His reasoning was
